Primary Classroom

Activating the child’s own natural desire to learn

Our early childhood program, designed for children 3 – 6 years old, uses the Montessori Method led by a certified Montessori educator. The classroom provides rich experiences in Practical Life, Sensory, Language, Mathematics, and Geography/Culture through a carefully structured and inviting environment. We also take advantage of outdoor space with experiences in natural exploration, gardening, and care of environment.

Montessori is a philosophy and method of education that facilitates the natural learning process and empowers children to take control of their learning. Specially trained Montessori guides are responsible for preparing an environment that fosters self-directed child exploration and discovery. They are also witnesses to the natural development of a child.

The Montessori method is unique in that it is children led and not teacher instructed. This offers children freedom in their learning and ensures children are exposed to multiple ways of learning at their own pace. This methodology encourages independence, self motivation and self control. Children are placed into mixed age groups to allow them the opportunity to be role models and to learn to work together with peers, fostering respect and kindness. Montessori has been built on decades of methodical study into how children develop and learn.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Monarch Montessori makes Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) material and lessons available to students through certified CGS guides. CGS is a Montessori-inspired approach to meeting the spritual needs of children. Through a structured environment, its fundamental principle is to provide a calm, peaceful environment where participants can receive and enjoy the most essential elements of faith.

“We try to help little children discover in wonderment the presence of a light that was given to us as a gift, of a mysterious and powerful seed within them which grows and leads towards more life, life in its fullness. This seed is so beautiful and valuable that it can be compared to the precious pearl of great price. And all of this has been given to us as a gift.”
